Sophia Strazinsky
Sophia Strazinsky earned her Bachelor of Art Education from THE Ohio State University in 2019 and currently works as a full-time Elementary Art Teacher. Her love for art began at a young age, nurtured by the constant support from her family and teachers. The dining room of her childhood home became “The Art Room,” a space that sparked a lifelong dedication to a creative practice.
Sophia works primarily in Relief Printmaking, while also drawing in pencil and ink, and occasionally exploring watercolor. Some of her art is lighthearted or takes inspiration from the world of tattooing, but most of her compositions seek harmony between the beauty of the natural world and the inevitability of its decay. She draws inspiration from her surroundings, like the vibrancy of blooming flowers or the slightly morbid, natural decomposition of our bodies. Through an emphasis on texture and the striking contrasts of minimal color, her prints reflect curiosity and care towards the cycles of life and death.
