Bill Buckley

Hi, I'm Bill Buckley. I make issue-oriented art. My pieces deal with crises/conflicts and everyday news items that affect our daily lives. My work is "visual journalism", seen through a prism of uniquely rendered art. My "picture-sense" integrates emotion and ideas with the big picture dramas that unfold and unfortunately at times explode around us. Each of these arrangements is a unique and often language independent piece of art, the goal of which is to promote dialogue and build the bridges necessary for all of us to coexist in a world that seems to be shrinking by the day.

I earned a BA in Fine Arts from Eckerd College, located in St. Petersburg, FL, in 1976. My first job was working as a designer in the City of St Petersburg Art Department for two years. After that experience I moved to NYC and attended the School of Visual Arts, at that tine one of the best schools in the country, for a more intensive art experience. In the 90s I began doing design on computers at the beginning of the digital age. Growing up in Connecticut I had an interest in history and drawing. I soon learned to combine both passions. I used my computer skills not only to create art, but to work as an art director in advertising and publishing for the next thirty years. I have freelanced my skills at such publications as The Nation and The New York Times. I moved to Florida in 2023 and continue to produce artwork daily.
